This is a dish you see everywhere and it carries a long Finnish tradition. It was first eaten in 18e century in upper-class homes, which spread to the common people in the 19th century.
How To Make Rosolli:
- Add all diced vegetables (except beets) and the herring and toss.
- Add the beets just before serving. Throw lightly.
- Serve chilled in a salad bowl lined with crisp lettuce with a generous spoonful of dressing.
- The dressing can be mixed in or served on the side.
