Tanzania holidays are something very special and the country is one of the most popular travel destinations. Directly south of the equator awaits the African country with a lush flora and fauna. Numerous safaris take tourists through fascinating landscapes, across vast savannas, past high peaks, dense rainforests and deep blue lakes. While you’re here, don’t miss the following destinations.
The Symbol of Africa – Kilimanjaro
At 5,895 meters, Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain on the African continent. You can recognize it from a distance by the snowy point that protrudes from the landscape. Whatever trip you book in Tanzania, it should not be missing in any travel program as a symbol of Africa. Tourists can admire it by booking a flight around the top. But it is better to go with a mountain tour. You walk in five to seven days through different climate zones on different routes. If successful, you will have a breathtaking view of the African landscape from Uhuru Peak (Freedom Summit).
Serengeti – endless expanse, impressive nature
The Serengeti – legendary as it were, the seemingly endless plain stretches 30,000 square kilometers across northern Tanzania. A trip to the land of Kilimanjaro without visiting the savannah was not really a Tanzania vacation. The Serengeti National Park (nearly 15,000 square kilometers) is one of the largest of its kind in the world and is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists every year to experience the unique landscape and the abundant flora and fauna. For them, observing lions, elephants, antelopes, rhinoceroses and other animals in their natural habitat is one of the most exciting adventures a human can experience. The highlight is the annual influx of millions of wildebeest, who immigrate in long trains.
Zanzibar – the island of spices
who one? Travel to Tanzania do not miss a detour to the island of Zanzibar. It is called the island of spices, and indeed it is. In the places, above the streets – everywhere are exotic scents in the air. Anyone who wishes can join an island spice tour and see for themselves the cultivation of local aromatic plants such as vanilla, cloves or cardamom. But Zanzibar is also a paradise for beach holidaymakers, divers and surfers. Whether Pingwe or Paje Beach, dream beaches, coconut palms and turquoise blue water invite you to relax.
Tarangire National Park – Elephant Paradise
Tourists will find Tarangire National Park about 120 kilometers southwest of Kilimanjaro. With 2,600 square kilometers it is one of the five largest parks in Tanzania. Many call it the elephant park. But here you can see not only elephants, but also rare animals such as the rare crested goats, mainland antelopes and giraffe gazelles. In addition, about 550 species of birds breed here all year round. The unique landscape of the area suits them well. The park flows through the Tarangire River and has extensive wetlands, savannas and the typical baobab trees of Africa.
Ngorongoro – paradise on earth
Some think it is a paradise on earth. In the Ngorongoro National Park there are even 15,000 to 20,000 animals, depending on the season. When you consider that the park is a volcanic crater with a diameter of only 20 kilometers, you can rightly say that it has the highest animal density in the world. A true natural wonder, visitors are guaranteed to encounter Africa’s “Big Five” – lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinoceroses and leopards. The animals find sufficient food because the fertile crater floor consists of extensive grasslands, swamps and dense forest areas.
